The 2nd season of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is in post-production and is due to arrive later this year Amazon Prime * start. Recently, more and more information about the fantasy return of The Rings of Power through that clearly “dirtier and harder to be Season 1. Now a star of the series is turning our expectations upside down with just three little words.
Galadriel star Morfydd Clark surprises with statement: 2nd season of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series
The first season of the Lord of the Rings series worked primarily to give us the to reveal the series’ big villain. At the side of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) we finally discovered the identity of Sauron in the season finale. This made the direction of the rest of the series clear: The Rings of Power would show us how the Middle-earth villain subdues the world through the titular jewelry. But instead of just this one opponent, the second season of Amazon’s fantasy series apparently holds up, according to Clark significantly more opponents than expected ready:
What can I reveal about Season 2 (of The Rings of Power)? I would say: there are lots of new villains. That is exciting. I love a (good) villain. That’s probably all I can say right now. It’s not much that Morfydd reveals to Clark. But three words stand out from her statement: “lots of new villains“. This tells us that not only one great enemy (Sauron) is coming into action, but several dark forces are threatening Middle-earth. Incidentally, these are “new“Villains apparently not the ones we know from season 1, but fresh opponents… or renegades?
The Lord of the Rings: Who are the New villains in second season?
We’ve put together a few possibilities in which direction Amazon could go with the suggested villains in Season 2 – with the “new” could refer to both new Lord of the Rings characters as well as well-known characters who are now turning evil. After us last “Surprising twists and turns” have been promised for the next season, we can no longer rule out anything in our speculation about what’s to come:
Lord of the Rings Series: Galadriel sees enemies everywhere she looks
- Several Saurons could appear in season 2 of the Lord of the Rings series because last one second actor cast as Sauron became.
- Because someone the returning Oliphants must point out, one of the new villains could be a southerner, since the Haradrim also fought on the side of evil in Peter Jackson’s films.
- Is behind it in the end powerful new wizard who the stranger (Daniel Weyman) is supposed to train as Sauron’s opponent, but a being with less good intentions?
- Season 1 already showed division on the island Numenorwhich in season 2 are between elven friends and enemies Elven haters aroundPharazon (Trystan Gravelle)should deepen.
- Elven-King also showed the opposite Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) not at its best in season 1. Could Season 2 push him entirely into the villain role?
- Dwarf Durin IV (Owain Arthur) was a huge fan favorite in season 1, partly because of his close relationship with Princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete). However, his wife also showed some manipulative traits in the end when she pushed Durin to seize power. Is there more to it?
- After Season 1 of The Rings of Power introduces us to the mystics the dark side of one invisible world has shown, much more horror could come from there.
- The introduction of shapeshifters also breaks down the concept of friend and enemy in an eerie way: a villain can hide in the body of every ally. Whether it will be introduced again and how Galadriel’s husband Celeborn or has already been part of the cast for a long time.
If you then take the work of our previous Sauron and the complicated motivation of him Elvish orc leader Adar (recast in season 2 with Sam Hazeldine), the possibilities for new villains in the Lord of the Rings return are almost inexhaustible. In the Expected Season 2 start of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series in fall 2024 Hopefully we will then gain clarity.
