The New ERT Comedy Series “On the Wires”

Written by Haris Mazarakis and Nikos Dimakis and directed by Haris Mazarakis, with a multitude of excellent actors and contributors, our subversive story follows the journey of Spyros Katarachias (Thanasis Tsaltabasis), who – after a financial fraud – is sentenced to five years in prison and driven in a penitentiary.

In prison he meets Julius Ralli (Ivan Svitailo), a Baripoinite with a dark past. A special relationship is created between them. Spiros, being highly cultured, learns from Julius from the classical writers to theater and poetry, while Julius takes over his protection and initiates him into the secrets of his own “profession”.

Meanwhile, Anna Roussou (Vicky Papadopoulou), a mysterious social worker, shows up to further stir the waters, bringing an anger management program she calls “On the Wires,” meaning not just the prison wires but the phone wires as well. .

So she asks the warden to give her some inmates so she can train them and turn them into amenable callers to whom the outside world will pour out their innermost souls and vent their pent-up anger.

Friends and enemies, from the eccentric director of the prisons Fokion Parlas (Panos Stathakopoulos) and the warden Zizi (Alexandros Zouridakis) to the factions of the “Rebets”, the Russians, but also the imprisoned Fine Arts teacher (Lakis Gavalas), all together constitute the pieces of a difficult and special puzzle.

Everything that happens outside the prison, with July’s spiritual priest, Father Nikolaos (Tassos Palantzidis), Spyros’ butcher father, Stelios (Vassilis Chalakatevakis), the tycoon and entangled Kimonas Vassiliou (Giorgos Hraniotis) and his partner Vanessa Ioannou ( Doretta Papadimitriou), compose a funny merry-go-round, around which the heroes of our story get confused.
